Certainly you want visitors after you have built your website. In this article I will outline some strategies that I found useful after reading, Kelvin Hui’s traffic manuscript secrets. Before continuing Let me Introduce who Kelvin Hui is first.

There are 4 kind of traffic that you can generate from:

- Search engine traffic &

Direct Traffic
In short, direct traffic is someone type in a website address (domain) in the address bar on a browser, usually a well known website has the most direct traffic. Some examples yahoo.com, Google.com, Amazon.com. You normally key in their domain in the address bar right?
Referral Traffic
Lets say you saw a very funny video last night on You Tube. After you saw it, you immediately tell your friend , Peter and tell him to watch that video by giving him that link. So you’ve have a friend to visit YouTube. This is what called referral traffic.
Search engine traffic
There are 2 types of search engine traffic: natural or organic and paid ones. One example of natural or organic traffic is the right hand side listing on the search engine results or listing where there are words saying “Sponsored listing”. Diagram below shows what do Ｉmean by natural or organic listing and paid listing.

It generally refers to any advertising that your put your website on the Internet. It might refer to banner, classified, text, search engine ads and Internet directories listing. Some large networks allow you to track your advertisement click through rate (CTR), sales or action conversion. We will talk about it later in the category paid traffic.
