To drive more traffic to your website basically you write an excerpt about your lastest blog post, or products then send an email to your friends, colleagues, customers to join you via your twitter profile

If you have a subscribers base you can just stick your twitter profile link as a signature to your emails,
you can also participate blog communities like blogcatalog and ask for twitter exchange.
There are plenty of ways that you can do it.
