SEO Case Studies: Multiple Entry Points

    Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

    [ad#large_rect]

Today I want to show you a SEO White Hat Trick I used to get two of the keywords rank top 20 in Google in 17,700,000 competition. Well how I did it? basically I just follow what I know about SEO and do the right thing! Ok. To details, I write appropriate Title and meta tags and also build some incoming one way link to the page and that is! The details, I used the 1waylinks.net blog network, where I submit few articles with anchored keyword text that links to that page. It isn’t that hard and actually it is much more easy than you think. Anyway, back to the details today, “SEO with Multiple Entry Points” Remember that search engine ranks for a web page not a site so what do you have to do?

    SEO case studies

The details, I used the 1waylinks.net blog network, where I submit few articles with anchored keyword text that links to that page. It isn’t that hard and actually it is much more easy than you think. Anyway, back to the details today, “SEO with Multiple Entry Points” Remember that search engine ranks for a web page not a site so what do you have to do?

Here are some tips that have worked for me:

    1. Don’t just get incoming links for your home or index but instead your inner pages as well.
    2. Make sure every page on your site have unique Title and META tags.
    3. Make sure that your URLs have the keywords you wish to rank for e.g. If you are looking for ranking in weight loss programs. Make sure you have for instance
    4. [quickcode]

      http://www.yourdomain.com/weight-loss-programs.html

      [/quickcode]

    5. Ensure you include the targeted keywords in your link text and also the title
    6. Get links from all relevant website but don’t worry too much about Google PageRank
    7. And that’s it!

That’s way you should increase traffic for your site.

Later on, I will show you how to get more traffic to your site or blog for free as I have reached 1,000 per month mark for this blog so stay tune.

PPC and SEO, Is SEO Really Better?

    Sunday, February 8th, 2009

    [ad#large_rect]

When talking free web traffic most people will immediate turn to Search engine optimization or SEO but is it really a better traffic source than its cousin pay per click or PPC search engine advertising? Today I would like to spend some time to look at how an effective pay per click campaign can actually helps you shorten your time of a SEO campaign rather than spending long hours, days, months or even years to have your site ranked top 10 for some competitive terms.

Setting Up an Effective Pay Per Click Campaign

Many web masters or website owners fear to set up an effective PPC advertising to drive traffic to their sites. It is because they heard some fearing terms like Google Slap, or paying $10,000 in adverting but got zero or low conversion! Well, this is because they do not really understand how it works. Once you have some basic ideas, it is actually very easy. For example, I see too many people don’t include their bidding keywords on the ads copy.

    Adwords sample ads

Why you need to include your keywords, this is because it helps your ads stand out. In competitive field such as web design, hosting or programming it is important that people to see your ads and click on it. When you include your bidding keywords in the ads headline, description line and the showing URLs, the click through rate will be increased hence you have better that the site visitor will convert into a buyer or email newsletter subscriber.

The other you want for your ad is to learn some web copywriting yourself. For example if you are selling an online Chinese learning course, your ad headline may be written something like. “Want to Learn Chinese?” where “learn Chinese” is the keywords you want to bid in search engines. This way for those are looking to learn Chinese will therefore they want to know what you are going to offer on your ad. Once they click on it, you always want to install a tracker to calculate your sales or email subscribers conversion. For sales, the typical conversion is 1%. That is for 100 visitors that you generate from a PPC campaign, you will expect to get at least 1 sales. For email newsletter subscription, a typical figure will be 10%.

After you set up your campaign and install some trackers to track your sales or newsletter subscription, you then can run a PPC campaign. After several days of testing you should collect some information on how your PPC campaign perform. If you can then find some keywords which help you to bring profits, you can now use those keywords and set up your SEO campaign.

This is the shortest way instead of jumping in a SEO campaign from the keywords tools such Google Adwords, wordtracker etc because you know those keywords will give you profits.

SEO Link Building: Makes Your Link Count!

    Friday, January 9th, 2009

    [ad#large_rect]

    Advanced technique

Last time we briefly discussed about three ways link exchange network, some revision of SEO basics and some advanced command. This time I want to show you some advanced techniques that you need to know before you and build your links. This is the advanced search command, “link:” or “linkcommand:” that you will use with Yahoo!. Now a question, why use that command with Yahoo? This is because it usually shows more results than Google and MSN.

    Check If Your Link Counts

Ok now as there are other components that you need to check with the targeted link page but we will show you the use of the Yahoo! “link” command first. Let say’s you wish to build link from articles, (that what most of my time are doing) and your target directory is ezinearticles.com. This is a SEO friendly directory as my links always count. I use it as an example here.

check if your links potentially counts on the targeted link website

    Click The Picture to Enlarge

    • First you need to go to Yahoo home page, any domain will do.
    • Then instead of you type in a keyword in the search box, you type in this command:
[quickcode]link:http://www.prosoncheng.com/ site:ezinearticles.com [/quickcode] as you see in the screen shot

If Yahoo! returns you something, it means the targeted directory or webpage that you wish to add your link is some how SEO friendly. Why somehow? You asked. Because it depends all other factors such as the targeted site domain Page Rank or how many inbound links that your targeted site is receiving. The more it gets, potentially search engine would pay more attention to it so it would index more deeper pages on the web site. Of course it depends all other site architecture factors such as XML site maps, the use of RSS feeds, site inter linking structure and so on.

Therefore, before you start building links yourself, make sure you do a quick check and see if the links are potentially counted. One way of doing it is to check all other people’s links on that website and see if they returned any Yahoo! results by using the above shown command. If there are majority of the links won’t show in the Yahoo! results, then I will NOT bother getting links with this website.

Others Factor that Affect Your Inbound Links

There are also other factors that may affect if your link counted towards the search algorithm. For example:

    • NOFOLLOW attribute in the link
    • Any form of redirection of the link, javascript, php etc
    • Framed Website
    • IP address of the targeted site
    • and many others

But the Yahoo! command helps to filter out factors like framed website and the use of Java-script or any form of redirection. You just have to manually check if the targeted site employs “nofollow” attribute of the links or not by checking its HTML source code by clicking on “view-> page source” in Firefox or “view->source” in Internet Explorer. Next time I will show you the methods that I use and also covering their benefits and disadvantages of each methods so stay tuned!
