Last time we covered some basic SEO link building such as basic HTML of writing your links, what are one way and two way links. Today, we are going to cover the definition of three way links and also some traditional methods of link building.

Three Way Links Exchange

Some people may claim, three way links exchange are modified one (1) way links but in fact they are link exchanges that search engines may easily find the footprint.

Why? For three way links exchange, there is always a “middle site” (site C) that connects two sites together.

seo three way link exchange

Three way link exchanges are easily to be found. Let’s say the search engine robot is at site A at the moment. It spots there is a link to site C and then it will immediately follow to it and find out what site C is about. After it arrives at site C, it finds out there is a link to B. It follows again, and there is a link to A. As this is only a simple example, the three way link exchange can expand that includes site D, E, F, G and so on. After the robot travels all the site, it finds out, there is always a link to site A at the end. So it may smells some unnatural behavior there.

But does three way link work? I tired it once, and they did work for one of my non competitive keyword but my Google’s PageRank drops for some reasons. So I stopped participating in the network.

Anyway, I am not sure if it will harm your site or not but if you are looking some lazy ways of generating links as well as cash (e.g. Adsense, YPN and other contextual advertising programs) for you, a three way links exchange network like this one may help.

Advanced Search Command That You Should Know

Before building links, there are some advanced search engines command that you should know:

  1. the “link:” or “linkdomain” command and
  2. the “site:” command

Those command basically allows you to check if the targeted link web pages are indeed indexed by search engines and any links that appeared in that link page counted towards to the search engine ranking calculations. Now what does that mean? To explain this concept, we should spend a moment on how search engine ranks a web site.

How search engine ranks a web site

When search engines calculate which site should appear on the first result page when a user type in a search query, they basically looks at two things:

  • Are there words that in your page title, and body text match the search queries
  • Are there any other sites in the Internet that link with the site and match the user search queries in the link text

In most cases, the second (linking) aspect are more important to the first one. So, it is important to know if the targeted link page counted before you add your link there otherwise you may just waste your effort and time.

Now, how do you know if the targeted link pages count? We will cover it in the next issue. Also we will give you in depth training of building links so stay tuned!
