The reasons for such a shift, are social networking sites can let the company focused on specific demographic groups such as finding people whose age are between 18-25 that loves playing video games, or computer games, giving advices to people who are seeking employment advice, and so on. Before the age of Facebook, Myspace were born, people are pretty much rely on search engines to find those targeted people around. Those traffic, if you don’t know what you are doing, can be expensive. Especially search engine optimization, you can spend thousand of dollars of “so called professional” which brings no or little results! So how do social networking sites bring your website traffic (or in this case convert your friends to giveaway sign ups?)

- First login to one of your favorite social site such as Myspace.com and creates a profile with your pictures and your personal information such as hobbies, your current profession, people you would like to meet and etc. As an example: you can view my profile at MySpace. Note that I deliberately added Easter JV 2008 banner and the referral link in the profile image so that people will know this person is somewhat related to the site or the event.
- Once you created your profile, go and join some related groups for example, our discussions, join groups that are related to “internet marketing”,”make money online”, “email marketing”, “affiliate marketing”, “seo”, “social marketing”, “blog traffic” and so forth. The idea is get to know each other, by participating their forums and add some friends for personal “one on one “activities.
- Your daily routine should add 10 new friends on all the networks described above, join a new group and also communicate with your friends!
That’s about it for social networking. I recommend you first make sure your friend is interested in “internet marketing or make money online”, talk to them and see what level of “make money online experience do they have. If your give away event is a big one, such as special occasion one, (Easter, Christmas, New Year) , then you may try to persuade them to join as contributors. To other friends, may be you can leave them a referral link and see if they reply.
