If you have been marketing online for a while you certainly have heard marketers will give away a quality front end products and later on, they show you an upgrade which costs $27-$97. No matter the visitors buy the one time upgrade or not, the site owner immediately register them as an affiliate and they will earn 60-75% commission if they just tell other people that there is a quality free product here and they buy the one time offer.

A picture below shows the concept pretty well of what viral marketing is about. Let’s say if you only refer two people to the site. The 2 people other refer 4 people to come along, and those 4 people refer another 2 person each, you will start seeing the power. Basically it is mathematical formula of 2^x where x is the how deep your referrals goes into the organization.

Ok, so what to do with plugins and how do you get “truck loads of traffic” out of it? There are few social WordPress plugins that you can use where it potentially generates huge amount traffic if your post is “right”.

1. Birdfeeder.Bird feeder will post to your twitter’s profile every time you publish a blog article. With twitter being so hot lately, I am sure it will attract certain traffic to your blog if both your post and the time you publish is right to most readers.
2. Wordbook Facebook plugin. Facebook is the top 10 most visited web site these days according to Alexa and what this plugin does pretty similar to birdfeeder but instead of twitter it post to you facebook’s profile. So it saves you time by cross posting your article to popular social platforms
3. the other plugin that I found quite interesting is Comuluv.com. This little plugin shows the latest post by default on the installed host blog owner blog when you comment their articles. e.g

This alone will generate substantial traffic by commenting others people blog. I have got that installed so make sure you comment here frequently as well.

For now on, I will shift my focus toward anything contain a viral element in my campaign and I will constantly update this blog where to have work less but will generate more result in return so please stay tune to my thought here.

Las time we talk about how email marketing can help you to get some free web traffic. Today I want to focus on methods that allow you to get an email list your own. This may involves some investment but if you are serious to make money online and not treat it as a hobby, then it should invest in these methods. Don’t worry, it is not going to cost you $1000 per month. So here are the steps.

Step 1: Get yourself a decent Autoresponder

Autoresponder is a piece of software that all you to send email to your subscribers in a time and date specified. A decent ones like Aweber and GetResponse will cost you somewhere between $13 – $19 per month. It is not that expensive. Since it allows you to manage your list pretty well and the most important point is your emails won’t jump into their users spam or bulk folders. You can definitely use your hosting provided ones but your emails may labeled as spams. But for those who are just seeking traffic and don’t wish to opt in for the autoresponder you can add a Feedburner email subscription box at the top left corner on your blogs more later.

Step 2: Offer an ebook, wordpress template, etc to encourage newsletter sign up

you should offer some free giveaway to your blog readers, e.g. a free software that allows you to giveaway, a SEO friendly blogging theme, how you get one of your blog post to show in the front page of Digg etc. These kind of tips surely people will love to read and sign up for your newsletter.

Step 3: After you have your prepared your gift and autoresponder it is time for you to add these two components on your websites.

The best place to add the opt in box will be the near the top of your blog like what other successful bloggers Johnchow, Carlocab, Alvin Phang did on their sites. See Screen shots below. Making at least 4 figures US per month! Well, should do you think you should follow the styles as well. I am going to once I’ve got a decent which looks like carlocab or John Chow ones.

Step 4: Drive massive traffic to your blog

To drive traffic to your blog the most easy ways will be join some JV giveaways with your new established gift and if it is attractive enough surely people will optin your newsletter and therefore you will have lots of traffic.

You can include tips centered on a different topic for each lesson, illustrating how your product will benefit the reader. Include the tangible benefits the visitor will reap by purchasing your product. Make sure to include a paragraph or two at the end of each
  lesson enticing your prospect to consider making a purchase.
• Automate a reminder about your service or product after a visitor has completed your course. This will increase the possibility of sales from visitors who have taken your course but are dragging their feet about actually making a purchase. You can also use these reminders to promote new
  products or services, and the products and services of your affiliate programs.
• Distribute free reports. This gives your visitor an idea of the type of information you can provide and the quality of your product or service. Make sure these reports are not sales letters or you will more than likely lose a potential customer than gain a sale.
• Create trivia quizzes on your site and place the answers in an autoresponder. Your visitor will then be motivated to request your autoresponder, and you will have a record of the visitors’ email addresses who took your quiz. Or create a contest and have any visitors that enter send their responses to your autoresponder. Your autoresponder can be set-up to send them a confirmation of
  their entry.
• Offer a trial version of your product. Give your prospects a sample of your ebook, course, software, membership, etc. People who are exposed to a little taste often end up wanting the whole pie. You can also capture their email addresses when you offer them a free trial from
  your website. Set up your autoresponder to give instructions on how to obtain their free trial, and then
  make sure to follow-up to try and close the sale.
• Link to hidden pages on your autoresponder. For example, a hidden page could be your affiliate page that contains graphics, promotional articles, and text links that interested affiliates can make use of. Inform visitors that they may have free access to your affiliate page by simply requesting your autoresponder. You will then gather a list of visitors who may be interested in becoming your
  affiliates.
• Use an autoresponder on your order page. Post a request form for visitors to be notified of special offers or discounts in the future. This creates a very effective mailing list that contains the names of people who are already your customers.
• Put your links page on your autoresponder. It should contain up to fifty links that would be of particular interest to your visitors. Make sure to add your own promotional copy at the top or bottom of this page.
• Now that you have proof that autoresponders can be used creatively, see if you can come up with some brilliant ideas of your own!

How many times you heard “money is in the list”? I heard it many times why? Because with a list of subscribers you can find ways to monetize it easily: e.g you can sell them affiliate or your own products, you can provide useful contents and sells your advertising space on your ezine, you can drive traffic to your adsense sites and if your subscribers click on the ads, you can make some money, you can do quite a lot with your subscribers.

But first you need to know how to build a list. In this tutorial, we will going through step by step on how do I build my list. There are lots of ways but I will put only what works for me and that’s it.

So how do you build a list?

First step, get an autoresponder. What is an autoresponder? you ask. Autoresponder basically is a computer program that sends preset email messages to your subscribers. I mean you can send a message when someone optin your list immediately, then 2 days later you send them another message. This what an autoresponder can do for you. I am not going through the details here. If you are not sure, of how autoresponder works, you can try optin to one my list “Ultimate Marketing Guide”, It is a free report that shows you how do you get free traffic, get top 10 rankings in Google and many more. If you don’t know how it works, I will recommend you sign up to that list and get a feel. Don’t worry you can opt-out anytime, and your information will be 100% safe.

Anyway, so your first step will be getting a reliable autoresponder. Many marketers will suggest you sign up with Aweber or GetResponse. Personally I haven’t tried Aweber but I did try GetResponse. It is a good system. There are videos show you step by step on how to set it up. The best part I like about the system is they have a “spam filter” built in ; what I mean is how likeliness that your email will get caught with spam. You know spamming is a big issue in email marketing. To make sure you important message delivered to your subscribers inbox, I think this feature is important.

But what I don’t like Getresponse is they let your subscribers to optin to your competitors list. What I mean they will show you another boxes that you can subscribe to!

So today your action step will be signed up an autoresponder, get familiar with it and that’s it.

Why do you need to build a list?

Let me explain by an example: Financial Planner. For any financial planner, there are often 2 ways to
get your customers. Either (1) your friends, relatives, neighbors, ex-colleagues, ex-schoolmates. That is someone you know.
or (2) someone you don’t know that is in sales term “cold calling“.

Depends on your experience, your “boss” will either tell you in arranging your name list or simply give you a list and start cold calling. For someone just started financial planning, it is often advised them to approach someone they know first. That is your family members, friends, schools mates and so on. The reasons for that are they already known you. They know that you are trustworthy person and would not run away with their money.

It is similar in the case of online marketing. Your site visitors know nothing about you when they visit your website. They arrive to your site because you have some information for instance making money online. But are they legitimate? They don’t know. So if you can’t prove them your programs work, most likely they will click a little “cross” on their browsers and leave. Do you agree? But what if you asked them to provide you their name and an email address in return you give them something valuable in the first place? There will be a better chances they may subscribe so that you can continue follow up them and give them something about yourself so that they may trust you more right?

In the real world no matter it is online or offline, no one will entrust their money to some strangers when speaking about helping them to make money. You will spend money on buying a movie ticket or purchasing a can of coke in a supermarket but you just won’t trust a stranger when he says to you “Give me 1o bucks now and I will gurantee you by the end of the day, you’ll have a hundred.” In the online there are so many hypes and unhonest around. Therefore by building a list you can give more information about you and your products to your site visitors so that they can more comfortable to purchase your recommendation when they see your value.

What is an autoresponder?

An autoresponder in internet marketing terms are let you pre-set,
pre-written emails that can be sent to thousand of your subscribers
and let you re-use over and over again. It is the most effective way

autoresponder service to save you time is important. After all, we all agree time is money right?
The other important factor for using an autoresponder is let you follow your potential customers
or prospect. We all agree we don’t buy from a stranger when we first visit his/her website. So, we need a automated system to do that so where autoresponder comes to play.

How do you choose an autoresponder then?

When you search the term autoresponder on Google, you will definitely find aweber, getresponse and constant contact.
They are well known ones in the email marketing industry and they charged usually in a monthly basis of around $20.
with the exception of constant contact which charges on your list sizes. The larger the more expensive it gets.

On Get response feature web page, it asks you some questions that you should consider before you buy the services:

1. Is it the best value for my money?
2. Will my data be safe? (I don’t want to lose my priceless leads and subscribers in an event of server failure or company bankruptcy!)
3. Will my emails get through to my potential customers instead of being blocked by anti-spam filters and real-time blacklists?
4. Will I experience the highest level of customer support via toll-free phone, email and fax ?

The most important issue I think you should when considering is how affordable is the service and may be the tech support part if service does go wrong.

The high deliverable rate sometimes is not just an issue of your autoresponder, it’s also an issue on how you write your emails. For example,’

if your sending emails subject lines contains “advertisement”, body contains “for free?”, from address contains “sales@” and so on may trigger
the free email services such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL spam filters and got your message deleted or in the user bulk email boxes.

So I will choose a sevice provider who is responsible enough to ensure they have the minimum spam complaints.

So far I am using responsebot. It doesn’t have the high deliver ability as Aweber, I suppose but the owner is responsible enough to reduce the service spam complaint that is if you are moving your lead from one autoresponder to another one, they will send out a confirmation email to your subscriber and ask them to confirm the subscription. Getresponse will also do that as I watch other marketers purchase their services.

So why choose a more expensive service when there is a cheaper option available which provides the similar functions as get response?
