Workplace Welfare: working safe and smart

Get better workplace safety through an audit

Worldwide, there are divergence in workplace safety practices and awareness. In the more advanced economies, this topic is seen as one of mutual concern to management and the worker, but one where the employer needs to take the initiative.

So, for the business management, this will commence with a workplace inspection to comprehend circumstances that may cause localized fatigue, undue strain,  pain or discomfort, frequent overhead or heavy lifts, repetitive and forceful exertions, awkward work positions, or any direct impacts from constant use of vibrating equipment, and any exposures to chemicals and emissions

This means designating hazards and defining the risk hotspots.

Take action and discover the benefits of a safer workplace

From the initial survey work, will follow an action list, that will have project points such as engineering improvements, implementation of safer work processes, use of less toxic materials, and safer work systems. These tasks need to be commenced by the management team. Additionally, if this process has been done thoroughly, it will have considered whether all the relevant workplace safety signs are there.

It’s imperative, that signs not just be wall decorations, but that they understand the subject matter of the safety signs at each location.

Safety Signs and the Safe Work Culture

Safety signs are hung up in response to a hazard in that location. An organization displays them, and an employee is to adhere to them; together they are responsible. Safety signs are not an alternative to  other methods of hazard diminution; they are to be put in place to supplement or reinforce all the hazard reduction steps earlier pin-pointed in the first review.

Creating a safety culture in the workplace has numerous benefits for all those who work there. The commitment is small compared with the enhanced higher team morale, employee welfare and lower insurance premiums. Simply it makes good financial sense.

Proactive business management dictates paying attention to all matters related to OH&S.
