Affiliate Marketing Tips – Why You Should Start Building a List?

When I started to make money online in fact I was selling hosting. Well I do see there is a high demand in hosting, which every company now needs a website, which is a huge opportunity. But the truth is managed a hosting company was not easy and I was doing marketing, support, billing, website contents etc all by myself. So indeed I gave up but I still wanted to make money online and therefore I turned myself into an affiliate marketer. Like most of you, I was selling make money online ebooks and software at that time. At that moment, I had no email list, no website, nothing! And indeed I bought a lot of ebooks telling me do this and do that then I will be rich in one day! sounds familiar?

I did hear a lot about “money is in the list”, you need a list something like that. But I did not start to grow my subscribers until January this year (which is about 6 months later I first started making money online with a brand name). Why? because I thought autoresponder is unnecessary or in fact expensive. I’ve got one with my hosting (I was selling reseller hosting) why should I get another similar type of thing?

At that time, of course I don’t know the differences. So I didn’t build an email subscriber database.
What made me change my mind was I was not making any money! I keep reading emails, buying stuffs that was great but I was not making any money, any cent at all! The reason that I was not making money because I didn’t know how to advertise about the system that I bought since I had no email database or others “easy” system that allowed me to advertise! After certain months, I said to myself, “I saw such and such person that made that amount of money, ($1000 per month, say) but I didn’t make and I thought there was certainly something missing with me.” This made me changed. I began to listen to many gurus said and started getting a professional autoresponder (not like the one provided with your hosting. Later I will tell you their differences, and why I recommend a professional autoresponder instead of your hosting and any other things.)

After I bought my first autoresponder, I began to market GetGoogleAds for free using Google adwords. I did make some money on it, but I lost quickly in the PPC campaign too so I stopped. However, I was told to setup a lead capture before start advertising. Indeed, I did set up the page and captured some leads with me. Some of them did the book, so didn’t buy. Order or not I still got the leads which I can save them for other affiliate opportunities later. The leads are still with me today, so I hope you do see the power of building your own mailing list.
